Our ethos

St. Joseph's pre-school

At St. Paul’s pre-school our Christian beliefs are the foundation of our ethos. We are fully committed to an inclusive provision and practice.

We aim to provide a nurturing environment for 3-4 year olds. Our provision is informed by children’s interests and curiosity. It builds upon their previous experiences and learning within the family.

St. Joseph's pre-school

We believe children are enthusiastic and receptive learners who need time, space and security to experience things at first hand – through play.

We aim to provide a wide range of play experiences which will include:

St. Joseph's pre-school
  • Natural elements – such as sand and water
  • Handling all kind of materials – such as: corn flour, play dough, …
  • Various types of paintings – messy play!
  • Small world, floor toys, bricks, modelling …
  • Cookery
  • Outdoor play, investigating nature
  • Imaginative role play

July 2010: We are delighted to announce that we have received a grant of £4,500 from the Big Lottery Fund, under their Awards For All scheme. This will enable us to purchase some ICT equipment, which will be a fantastic opportunity for our children. With this additional equipment, our children will develop confidence to explore and learn in a secure and safe, yet challenging, environment and gain expertise in using age appropriate technology and multimedia tools. All the staff at the pre-school are very grateful to the Lottery for having accepted our application!
