On Saturday 9th July 2011 we witnessed the ordination of our second permanent deacon, Dave Turner.

Deacons help the bishops and priests as ministers of the word, of the altar and of charity. At Mass they proclaim the Gospel, on occasions preach, prepare the gifts of bread and wine, assist with communion and dismiss us to go and live what we have celebrated.

Deacons can also preside over public prayer, baptise, assist at marriages and bless them, give viaticum to the dying and can lead the rites of burial.

On the Sunday 5th July 2009, the Mass communities of St Paul's Parish came together in the grounds of St Joseph's School to take part in the Going Forth Mass.

This annual event celebrates the life of the parish, remembers those who have received Sacraments during the year, those who have died and looks forward to the coming year.

After the celebration, the Scouts provided a BBQ!
